David
Charles Cohen recently wrapped up his time at Rugged Entertainment where he last
produced a documentary on deceased rap artist Biggie Smalls with Academy and
Emmy award-nominated director Peter Spirer. The film was released by Image Entertainment
[DISK] in September of 2007. His experience in indie production and distribution
made the transition to Director of Publishing and Client/Staff/Writer relations
with Writers of the Round Table an easy segue.
As an award-winning producer, David knows the world of film and television both behind and in front of the camera. After spending the majority of his childhood and college years appearing in over 30 national and regional commercials and dozens of films and television shows, David decided to follow his entrepreneurial spirit. After graduating from Rollins College with a Theater degree, in 2002 he founded 1421 Productions and has since produced and co-produced over 17 films ranging in format from DV to HD to 35mm. He produced Gretchen Brettschneider Skirts Thirty with Elevation 9000 Films, where he first worked with Corey Blake. The film won the Grand Jury and Best Short Film Awards at the San Diego Film Festival in 2003 among other awards. Shortly thereafter, David began a Filmmakers consortium with Corey, LA Film Lab Entertainment, in which he developed and produced two original screenplays, formed and taught courses on the business of production, and directed a documentary for The Make-A-Wish Foundation© of greater Los Angeles, the premiere of which was featured on Fox News.
David was recently featured in the book Millennial Leaders as an emerging leader in Generation Y, and had the pleasure of speaking on a panel at the 2007 International Coaching Federation (ICF) conference in Long Beach, CA.
He is excited to be a part of such a growth and team oriented company. He lives with his beautiful wife, Erin, in Studio City California where they enjoy a life rich with friends, food, and travel.
