Table Talk - Dream big!
Excalibur author is in good company

Angelica Harris, co-author of the forthcoming novel, Excalibur Reclaims Her King, has been invited to participate in Author’s Night 2008 at the East Hampton Library on August 9. This reception will include such bestselling authors as Nelson DeMille (Wildfire), E.L. Doctorow (Ragtime, The Book of Daniel), Jay McInerney (Bright Lights, Big City), and W. Chan Kim (Blue Ocean Strategy). Angelica’s new book, co-authored by our own Corey Blake, is scheduled for a December 2008 release. Here’s a sneak peek at the cover art of this third installment in the “Excalibur” series.

China Girl is coming this Friday!
The number “8” represents good fortune in the Chinese culture. So, we agreed that Sophie Mokhtari’s first novel in the Lemonade Series, China Girl, should be released on 8-8-08 (that’s this week, folks!). Readers who had the “good fortune” to get an advance look are posting 5-star reviews on Amazon. The wait is over. Order your copy of China Girl now!

Edge! makes the cut on Amazon.
In its first month since the release of Edge! A Leadership Story on Amazon, the book has climbed to a ranking in the top 20 in Business Motivaional books . The non-fiction narrative by Bea Fields, Corey Blake, and Eva Silva Travers is capturing the interest of business leaders who enjoy the storytelling approach to leadership lessons. Meanwhile, James Cox of the Midwest Book Review called the book “A deft combination of fiction and business education,” In his five out of five stars review. See the complete review here. Robert Renteria’s new video is online.
If you missed the Red Carpet Book Launch for From the Barrio to the Board Room, you can now see what you missed. Watch a video of author Robert Renteria’s heartfelt presentation to the packed room of over 400 guests. Robert shared the life challenges that are recounted in his book, a story that is inspiring readers of all ages. Eleven year-old Sarah Bailey, for example, wrote to Robert: “This book has taught me that even though I'm small, I can hold a big place in this world.” If you want to keep up with Robert’s efforts to affect a positive change, subscribe to his monthly newsletter.

Duckey makes a splash with early reviews.
While our designer Nathan Brown readies Duckey and the Ocean Protectors to go to press, advance reviews are flowing in. Chris Dehnel of the (Hartford) Journal Inquirer said, “John Sexton and Katie Gutierrez, backed by clever illustrations by Maciej Zajac, show young readers the importance of keeping a great natural resource precious. And they do so with a little adventure and a little mystery told from the typewriter of a winged scribe who winds up giving even Clark Kent a run for his money.”

Lyn Dillies, America’s premiere female illusionist, found the book to be magical: “Children need more books like this to stimulate their imagination and teach them to nurture the planet and environment.”

Marketing maven or movie mogul?
During the day, Michelle Kabele is a marketing professional who has developed award-winning campaigns. In her “other life”, she is a budding filmmaker. We’ve been lucky enough to work with her in both arenas. Michelle, the marketing wiz, has teamed with us to develop a series of marketing ebooks and articles, and a screenplay for a sci-fi film. Michelle is a testament to the fact that you CAN have your cake and eat it, too, as she works and plays with total joy!

Keeping up with Corey
The past month has been a wild ride (as usual) for the team here at Writers of the Round Table! We released Edge!, China Girl comes out this week, and Duckey and the Ocean Protectors is not far behind! Authors Bill and Colleen Hensley have finished an exceptional draft of the story portion of The Pilot, and Dr. Kay Vogt’s book, The Family Business, will be ready for focus groups this month. Angelica Harris and I are finalizing Excalibur Reclaims Her King. And Heather Leah Smith is making terrific progress on The Corporate Madonna with Eva Silva Travers. Meanwhile, our Marketing & PR Team is finding new ways to build platforms for our author clients that continue to excite readers and the media alike. In September, I’ll be presenting the keynote speech at the Society of Southwestern Authors’ “Wrangling with Writing” conference, to boot, an opportunity for me to connect with writers and share what we’ve learned with others. We’re riding a wave of inspiration, energy, and total joy and I want to thank you again for your support for our books and our authors in making a difference in the world!
