Barrio launch is a blast! On April 25, we celebrated the publication of From the Barrio to the Board Room with Robert Renteria and more than 400 of his closest (and new-found) friends at Long Island Sound in Aurora. The Barrio Book Launch was a huge success. The Red Carpet event raised a bundle of cash and a van full of food for Hesed House. And it brought community leaders like Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner and Congressman Bill Foster closer to many constituents. Most importantly, there were over 60 young men and women in attendance who got to hear Robert’s presentation and then speak to him directly. Corey Blake summed up the evening in one word: Magical. “This book is a must have for all groups and organizations who need a tool to help inspire and motivate anyone who needs help in finding their way. From the Barrio to the Board Room is the critical tool for coping with alcohol, drugs, violence, abuse, gangs, school drop outs. This book will change lives,” said Blake. Go to www.fromthebarrio.com for more information and to order books for your organization, school or community. Help us change the world. |

"There have been women trailblazers throughout American history, but no book has ever taken their perils and said, “now this is how you achieve success.” This wonderful book takes lemons and turns them into lemon candy and cough drops to comfort and sooth the soul." —L. Marilyn Crawford “Dramatic and inspiring. Cathartic, healing. Graceful. A story that captures the heart and compassion of the reader through an emotional pull. It delves beautifully into complex layers of human pain, perseverance, spirit, and ultimately, triumph. China Girl transcends race, and culture through the universality of emotion and binding experience. A soulful, soul baring, read.” —Tonja Mahallati “The characters are well developed and insightful. Following the development of Anna Chang and her children, especially eldest daughter Lily, as they struggle to find a healthy, productive life in America is rewarding. I highly recommend China Girl.” —Hollace Davids “China Girl is an absolutely beautiful book about family, culture, forgiveness and love. I fell in love with both the characters and the story. As a mother of two young women, I became emotionally connected to the relationship between Anna and Lily and their stories of struggle and triumph. If you are a woman, I encourage you to give yourself a gift...read China Girl. It will touch you and move you in ways that will surprise you. Author Sophie Mokhtari has truly created a masterpiece!” —Bea Fields
President, Our focus group called it a “page turner” with 95% rating it as great or exceptional! Sophie’s series is being created to empower women to make something sweet out of sour circumstances. | Powerful women Writers of the Round Table has a growing network of individuals who are committed to bringing their messages to the masses who will benefit from them. Within this community, we have discovered a core group of professional women authors who continue to inspire one another through their work, their commitment, and their life experiences. Forged through the strength of this chain, we are creating a partnership to launch these authors on a national platform early in 2009, with a conference of powerful women authors inspiring other women around the country to write their own stories. With the goal of bringing 1000 women together for an experiential weekend of inspiration, the group is looking to Chicago to host this magnificent event. |
